Meet Pockets

Pockets and his littermates will only be adopted to a family living within 45 minutes of Des Moines due to the continued routine vet care they need. The restriction will be lifted after their puppy vaccinations and neuter is complete in early November.    Pockets is a happy, energetic puppy who had a rough start to life. At 13 weeks, he weighs around 10 lbs. He is a mixed breed puppy possibly hound mix. He is a local surrender that came in with his litter malnourished and covered in fleas. He is thriving in his foster home with a proper diet and monthly preventatives. Pockets is adventurous and loves to explore everything around him. Despite his desire to be independent, he enjoys playing with his humans, and when he's tired, he enjoys snuggling on their lap, or at their feet. He enjoys carrying his toys proudly around the house, chasing balls, and chewing on anything. His favorite game is tug of war, and he especially enjoys taunting anyone who will chase him. Despite his adventurous spirit, he can be apprehensive to try new things but has now learned that stairs aren't so scary! He happily prances into his kennel when it's dinner time and enjoys that he no longer has to fight his littermates for food. He settles well in his playpen at night and enjoys a comfy bed to sleep in. He uses potty pads when his foster family is away and at night but does potty outside when taken out on a regular schedule. He loves to play in the grass and climb through the flowers like a real adventurer. Pockets gets along with the other dogs in his foster home but is happy playing independently. Pockets would love a family who will help him learn to be a confident pup and teach him all about the positive things in the world. Pockets is working on house training and basic commands. He will do well with cats, dogs, and kids with proper guidance and training.    Littermates: Rufio (M), Pockets (M), Cubby (M), Curly (M), Tootles (M), Nibs (M), Wendy (F) If you are interested in meeting this puppy, please complete an online application at https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
