Meet Puddin

Puddin came to Safe Haven after being found abandoned at just a couple of days old. The finder cared for Puddin for the first couple of days hoping his mother would show up to care for her little one. With no such luck, the finder knew it was more than he was able to handle knowing the very fragile, little puppy needed 24/7 care and needed bottle fed every couple of hours. Safe Haven was able to help by taking this little guy into our care and finding an appropriate foster home to care for his needs until he was old enough to come into the shelter. Fast forward several weeks, Puddin is thriving and growing into an adorable little fella! This little one is estimated to be around 8 weeks old now. We are still unsure as to what his breed mixings may be.... we will be finding this out though as one of our volunteers has donated an embark DNA test for this guy. We are eagerly awaiting these results!  Due to his young age, Puddin will be adopted out on a neuter contract which means his adoptive family will sign a contract stating he will be neutered when he is a bit older and will be required to bring him back to Safe Haven for us to neuter, at no additional cost. The other option for his adoptive family would be to have the surgery done with their veterinarian at the family's own cost, and provide us proof of that surgery once complete. His ideal adoptive family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class right away to get started on the right foot - he will need a family that can commit to continue proper socialization and also all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every 3-4 hours in the beginning. So an ideal home for this young one will be one where he won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone during the first few months, so he can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!  If you are interested in adopting Puddin please fill out an adoption application as the first step of the adoption process. The adoption application can be found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application has been approved, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to set up the adoption.

Adoption Process
Adopters must fill out an application and be approved. Appointment is made to meet/pick up the pet. Adoption fee is returned if the adopter notifies us the adoption in not working and returns the pet within two weeks.
