Meet Mazey

Mazey is a six-month-old female possible Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix looking for a loving home. She currently weighs about 10 pounds and, she is still growing, will likely be a bit bigger.  She is a local owner surrender who came to us, along with her mother, Rosie (aged 3) through no fault of their own. The landlord didn't appreciate their fine, harmonic vocalizations when the owner was not home and kindly asked them to vacate. Mazey has blossomed in her foster home, but can still be rather timid in new situations. She gets along nicely with her four foster siblings.  Although she is smallest pea in the pod, she is getting very bold when trying to join in the pack's shenanigans. She is well on her way to being potty trained, with regular outside breaks. She really enjoys being close to foster mom while she works on her computer at home as well as watching basketball, listening to 70's rock and -eating!!! This girl loves her food as well as treats and comes alive when she hears the clanking of the bowls or the rattling of the bag. She was likely not well socialized to this point in her life, but has been enjoying car rides and playing in the back yard. Since coming to her foster home she has discovered the joys of playing with other dogs as well as toys!  She is none too fond of her collar and balks at the leash at this point; it's all new to her. She is said to be good with just about everyone -this has proved to be true, so far! Mazey will thrive in a home with lots of lap time and attention from her humans. After observation in her foster home she would do best in a home with another small-medium sized confident dog as she continues to gain confidence.  Her current best friend is a 30 pound spaniel mix. She will also need an owner who can commit to spending ample time with her as she does not do well alone.  She would not be good in an apartment or in a shared-wall situation as she barks and cries loudly when left alone. Continued socialization will continue to increase her confidence and make her a perfect companion. With her sweet disposition, beautiful coloring, and blue eyes she is truly a very special little lady.
