Meet Virgil

Virgil is an approximately 7 to 9 month old pit bull type pup. He came to us on January 24th from the city pound after his legal hold time finished and no one claimed him. He's a handsome young man with a bit of growing left to do. We expect him to be fairly large at maturity. He is scheduled to be vet checked and neutered on Feb. 25th and his fee is $150. Virgil will need basic obedience training. He's a young guy with a lot of energy and he doesn't yet know how to curb his enthusiasm. We do think he'd be okay with another dog but have no way of knowing about cats. Due to his puppy activity level and current lack of training, we do think he would do best in a home without small kids. He's a lovable dog with a lot of potential! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.

Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
