Originally found as a stray and left unclaimed, LUGO arrived at MOGS off of Death Row at a high-kill shelter. TEMPERAMENT/BEHAVIORDue to a lack of foster homes, young handsome Lugo is currently in a boarding facility. The volunteers that work with him report that he is a sweet and loving boy who really loves people. He has started to come out of his shell, splashing around in the pool and wagging his tail more. TRAININGLugo seems to be housebroken, he keeps his kennel at the boarding facility completely clean and waits to potty until he is outside. He goes on regular walks where he walks perfectly beside you, and is well behaved when volunteer have taken him to visit Home Depot. He has even been to a MOGS event at Bass Pro and did a great job hanging out with his handler on the sidelines. He does not react to other dogs if they do not enter his personal space. If they do, he lets them know he is not comfortable by growling. PEOPLELugo loves loves people! He will be a lucky family's best friend and companion. OTHER ANIMALSDue to his boarding situation Lugo has not had a great chance to be slowly introduced to other dogs in a less hectic household environment. So far in boarding Lugo tries to avoid encounters with other dogs and appears to be a little bit dog selective. He does not want other dogs to get in his face and lets them know by growling. Otherwise, he will ignore other dogs and cats, even when he sees or hears them while he is out and about or on walks. He could probably coexist with another calm dog as long as there was a lengthy introduction period and an experienced strong GSD leader. He would be a very easy addition to an only dog household. Lugo has been cat tested and would do well in a home with cats.
Adoption Process
Homes will be required to provide 3 references plus a Vet reference and have a home visit completed. The dogs are all completely vetted before being placed in their new homes.
