Animal Aid for Vermilion Area

To date, Animal Aid for Vermilion Area, a non profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization established in 1995, located in South Louisiana, has helped rescue thousands of animals.AAVA has worked through 5 natural disasters, including hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In the aftermath of Katrina, they helped unite people with their pets and saved cattle from drowning and starving.AAVA also helped pass the Pet Evacuation Bill that keeps service animals and pets from being left behind during a disaster.AAVA has been helping animals and their owners for over 25 years, and one of their goals is to rescue and rehome as many animals as possible from the local Animal Control facility, a high kill pound with no adoption program. While all pounds are always full of dogs and cats for adoption, we are facing a particular challenge: this is a high kill pound with no adoption program

Meet James

Meet James, a spirited and resilient little guy ready to find his forever family! At just 20 pounds, James has overcome incredible odds after suffering a severe injury to one of his back legs. Thanks to multiple surgeries, months of crate rest, and his unbreakable joy, he’s now cleared for all activities and is steadily regaining use of his leg.James is a lively, happy pup who greets everyone with enthusiasm. He’s great with other dogs, big or small, and even coexists peacefully with indoor cats, adjusting his playstyle to suit his furry companions. Crate trained and housebroken, James enjoys his meals and quiet time in his crate and sleeps soundly through the night. He’s also an excellent leash walker and a fantastic car rider.James would thrive in a home with active companions—whether human or canine—and a family who appreciates his zest for life. If you're ready for snuggles, playtime, and unconditional love, James is the perfect match!
