Gramps (NOT YET AVAIL - STRAY)

Ninna's Road to Rescue

I, Ninna Lopez, have been in rescue since 2007, managing a large no-kill shelter before starting Ninna's Road to Rescue in 2012. We have rescued and rehomed 1000's of animals. Our facility is climate controlled and the animals stay indoors at night in specially designed doggy rooms. They have access to the outdoors during the day in a large fenced in area. It's a little bit of paradise for the dogs until they find their furever home.

Meet Gramps (NOT YET AVAIL - STRAY)

NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 4/3/2025:  Gramps - male - approx 15 years old - 6.4 very thin pounds - Yorkie Reason for intake:  This dog was found on the side of Hwy 80 in Calhoun.  A good Samaritan picked him up and took him home.  He posted him on a lost and found site on Facebook for Ouachita Parish with no luck.  A couple of rescue friends saw it and reached out to us where we indicated he'd need to go to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter first to be checked in and start the stray hold.  They took him there and then we picked him up.  WOW... this poor guy is in HORRIBLE SHAPE!  Matted, infected pus-filled ears, missing hair in several places, HORRIBLE dental disease with what appears to be holes in his top jawbone, and that's just what we can see.  He is going to our groomer first to take care of all the matting.  Since he's a stray, we can't send him to our vet yet, but we will very soon.  We will keep an eye on him, though, and if he needs to go during stray, we will do that.  In the meantime, we are making him comfortable and giving him some good groceries and a clean place to lay his little head.  Stay tuned. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Adoption Process
On-line adoption application required. If approved and at adoption we require adoption agreement, spay/neuter contract for puppies/kittens - adoption fees vary from $85 for felines and $150-$250 for dogs (varying depending on age, health, behavior, etc.) Adopters must have responsible dog-ownership history and stellar vet reference if applying to adopt a dog and vice versa for cats.
