Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

BEBE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Bebe       Best Guess for Breed:    Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age:    4 years as of December 2022      SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:   44 lbs   Gets Along With:   She has lived with another dog and is good with cats. She hasn't been seen with kids but can be tested.   Currently Living at:  a DC area foster home!   Special adoption considerations: Bebe tested positive for heartworm disease and has been treated on January 24. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Bebe is Looking For:  Bebe and her friend Charvi were surrendered by their owner. Shelter staff say they are very nice dogs and really good with cats. They aren't a bonded pair and will be ready to head off to their own homes after completing heartworm treatment. Bebe is eager to once again have her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures her family can dream up. She's well out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog knows what's most important in life - being a well loved dog under her own roof! In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Does this sweetie get her new start with you?   What My Foster Says About Me:    We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog.   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
