MIRABELLE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Mirabelle Best Guess for Breed: Beagle and hound mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of April 2025 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 24 lbs Gets Along With: She does well with other dogs. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here after completing heartworm treatment. Special Adoption Considerations: Mirabelle is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Mirabelle is Looking For:Her forever home! This sweet, sweet girl is eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for sniffy walks (and with that breed mix - they are going to be SNIFFY!) and all the adventures they can dream up. And snuggles at the end of a fun day together. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well. But you know what she wants most of all?To know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. Who her family is. She's ready to give them all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags she's storing up for them - and all the loving, loyal companionship in her heart. What do you say? Is she the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
