Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

CHOCOLATE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Chocolate and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (02/02) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name:   Chocolate         Best Guess for Breed:   Heeler mix  Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of January 2025       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   25 lbs   Gets Along With:    Chocolate lives with kids and dogs in foster care. We haven’t seen Chocolate with cats, but he can be tested!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Chocolate is Looking For:   Meet Chocolate, the sweetest little brindle pup you'll ever meet! This small bundle of joy came to us all the way from Tennessee, and he’s ready to find a forever home. Chocolate has a warm, friendly personality that makes him a natural fit for family life. Whether it’s playing in the yard, cuddling on the couch, or simply being by your side, Chocolate is sure to bring endless love and happiness to his new family. Are you ready to add a little Chocolate to your life? What My Foster Says About Me:   Chocolate is a sweet, calm and confident pup and has done great with his foster family.  He is excellent with our kids and great with our dog. He’s been on several walks and is very good on the leash and loves sniffing and exploring the neighborhood.He also enjoys hanging around the house, snuggling on the couch and playing with a tennis ball. Chocolate is a very good boy and will make a wonderful addition to anyone's family! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
