DORIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Doria          Best Guess for Breed:  Retriever mix Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of March 2025        SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  55lbs.    Gets Along With: Doria is great with other dogs! She hasn't been seen with kids or cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.    Currently Living at:   Texas shelter; needs a forever home in the DC area to escape!   Meet Doria – The Sweet Girl Who’s Spent Her Whole Life Waiting for a Home!  This sweetie is in a shelter so far south in Texas, it's 30 miles from the Mexican border. Doria arrived at the shelter as a tiny puppy, full of hope and curiosity. But as the days turned into months, and months into over a year, she has grown up within the shelter walls—her puppy features fading while she patiently waits for a family to call her own. Now a loving and playful adult, Doria is as sweet as they come. She thrives in playgroups with other dogs, adores every person she meets, and has a heart full of love to give. But what she’s missing is a forever home where she can finally experience the warmth of a couch, the security of a family, and the love she has never known. Could you be the one to give Doria the life she’s been waiting for? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
