Meet Lizzy. This sweet pup is looking for a fresh start after losing the only family she’s ever known. Lizzy's owners are going through a divorce, and neither was able to keep her. Still just a young pup with a full life ahead, we are happy to help her find her forever home. Lizzy is currently being fostered in an active home with a mom, dad, three boys (ages 6, 8, and 11), and two dogs. Coming from a quieter home with no dogs, she was initially nervous and unsure of her new surroundings. Her foster mom, Ashley, introduced her carefully, doing leashed meet-and-greets in the backyard to help Lizzy get familiar with her new pack. After a few hours, she began to relax and sniff her new buddies. Now she runs and plays like she’s been part of the pack forever! We checked in with Ashley for a first-week update: "Lizzy is such a joy to foster. She’s a happy girl and a quick learner! She’s already picked up on our nightly routine, so I’d say she’s adjusting well. She LOVES the kids and will make a fantastic family dog. I think she’d thrive in a home with either a pup playmate or children—she’s an active girl who loves to be outside and explore. She plays fetch and runs with the kids every day, so having a playmate will be key for her. Lizzy is house-trained and even came with potty bells—she knows to ring them at the door when she needs to go outside! She’s crated when no one is home, and while she wasn’t a fan at first—barking and whining even if someone was still around or the boys stepped outside—she’s already making progress. Over the past week, she’s become more comfortable going into her kennel and no longer barks for long. I’ve checked in on our cameras, and after about 10 minutes, she settles down nicely. While she enjoys playing with her dog buddies, Lizzy is very people-focused. She’s a busybody who always wants to be where her humans are. She’s a little shy at first but warms up quickly, greets visitors with a wagging tail, and loves to snuggle with the kids. We’re working on her leash skills—she’s eager to explore and wants to chase birds and squirrels. We’re also reinforcing basic manners, like keeping her paws off the dinner table and resisting the temptation of the boys’ plates when they’re not looking!” ********* Lizzy is an affectionate, active pup who will bring so much joy to the right home.
