Worthy Dog Rescue

Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs in distress, especially those living on chains, in pens, or in neglectful and abusive situations. Our mission is to provide a better life for these dogs, while working to address the root problems of animal overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We do this through community outreach and by supporting and educating dog owners in underserved communities, by sponsoring spay and neuter programs, and by rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need.

Meet Aerie

Meet Aerie. This cute, scruffy puppy was given away in passing to a Good Samaritan in hopes they would find her a home. Thankfully, the Good Samaritan reached out to rescue for help, and Aerie is now on her way to having a stable life and a loving family. Arie is only about 13-14 weeks old and weighs 11 lbs. She’s already started her vetting and will be coming to the DC metro area on 11/9, ready to go home. Aerie is currently being fostered with two dogs and a cat and does well as part of a pack. She came into the rescue a little timid but has quickly found her Terrier confidence. She’s well on her way to being a social gal and will make a great family dog or back member. ****** Aerie's foster mom, Julia, sent us this report: “She is the sweetest girl and very snuggly. Basically, she is completely potty trained [good girl, Aerie!] She learned to use the doggy door in a day and is so smart, and picks up on what you want quickly. I was using an ex-pen in the house to contain her, but she would climb out, so I started keeping her confined to one area in my house when I leave. If she has a potty break every 4 hours, she’s good to go. Aerie has done great with both my dogs and cat. Like most puppies, she loves to play with toys and enjoys the ones that squeak and also hard toys to chew on. She would love to play with my dogs, but they are older and not as playful now. She’s very respectful of my cat. Overall she has pretty good house manners for such a young pup and isn’t a barker.” Preference will be given to adopters with: Puppy experience A flexible, puppy-friendly schedule Another social dog in the home (preferred but not required) An active home in the DC metro and surrounding area Aerie is still too young to be spayed, but having her spayed at the appropriate age will be required as part of her adoption terms. We will require that proof of spay is provided to the rescue. This adorable snuggly puppy needs a family to love...Apply today!
