Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

CALYPSO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Calypso        Best Guess for Breed:   Great Pyrenees/Lab mix     Best Guess for Age:   5 years        Gender:   female Approximate Weight:   85lbs  Gets Along With: Other dogs! We have not seen Calypso with cats or kids but she can be tested. Calypso is very friendly with people! Currently Living At: SC Rescue Campus Special Adoption Considerations: Calypso is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Calypso is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet girl needs a new home through no fault of her own. She's eager to once again have her own humans - Great pyrenees are known for being quite attached to their people! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on her wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days. Shelter staff say LOVES people. She's in her prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into her new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty she is storing up for her new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
