Rescue Well Incorporated

Our organization primarily helps owners keep pets in safe and healthy homes. We do this by offering support (i.e. training advice, management), supplies (i.e. food, crates, leashes), and we work closely with animal control on cases where owners truly just need help keeping pets. When re-homing is best, we work with owners to provide re-homing assistance which includes marketing and screening of applicants, as well as post-adoption support for adopters.

Meet TAURO (COURTESY POST)

Tauro is 1-1/2yo, weighs 45 lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations but is not microchipped.  Tauro dislikes/fears doors closing; during the day, he stays in the main living area or on the couch; at night, he sleeps in the main living area or on his dog bed; he loves car rides, as he's a great passenger.  Tauro's guardian adds:   "Ball-obsessed best friend alert! Introducing Tauro, an adoptable 1.5-year-old goofball who lives for fetch and playtime. This energetic pup thrives on adventure, and while he's happy to conquer the neighborhood park, he dreams of a backyard to become his personal frisbee haven.  Tauro walks well on the leash and ignores most people on walks, but showers other dogs (both big and little ones!) with playful affection.  He's already mastered the art of chilling at home, snoozing by his foster parent’s side on the floor (dog beds are overrated, apparently) while they work from home. Tauro is perfectly house trained and sleeps through the night with no barking. Think you can handle the slobbery kisses and endless games of fetch?  Head to the link below to submit an adoption application and bring some serious joy into your life! Tauro has had four training sessions with Wolfman Dog Training, positive reinforcement trainer and has learned to walk on a loose leash, learned how to relax in new and strange environments and learned how to settle in place."   Tauro's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Tauro was found as a stray and his finder was unable to keep him beyond a month.  His owner never surfaced.  He was moved to another temporary foster for a week and was then placed in his current foster home, where he can stay until September 2nd, when his foster family has significant travel." Scratch incident:  On 10 June 2024, Tauro scratched a child in his foster home; the scratch broke the skin; animal control was not involved; medical attention was not sought.  Tauro's guardian explains:  "Tauro was over excited and jumped up and scratched a child when she was arriving home". Tauro's guardian states the following regarding children:  Tauro lives with children, ages 6-14, but his guardian recommends his living with older children, stating... "He's very excited when greeting children, and although he loves children he would do best with a home with children ages 8+ and children who are dog saavy.  He does jump when he's excited so will need an owner who is willing to work with him on making sure to reinforce four paws on the floor." Tauro's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Since Tauro has lived with dogs, his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating... "Tauro has been friendly and appropriate with every dog he's been introduced to.  He currently is in foster care with a large male dog and does very well sharing space with him and sharing toys.  The dogs are separated for feeding but Tauro has shown no food aggression." Tauro's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Tauro hasn't lived with cats or otherwise been around cats, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats since his behavior around them is unknown. Tauro's guardian describes him as: Very active Playful Friendly Independent Nervous House-Trained Likes men Likes women Tauro's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Tauro would love an active family who can keep up with his playful spirit and provide outlets for his energy.  Another doggo pal would be a plus, but not a requirement." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Chevy Chase, MD
