Meet A Meezy

Meezy is available for adoption. She is 12 years old and weighs 16 lbs. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Meezy has returned for her second act with SAYR.  Now at age 12 and weighing 16 pounds, her original adopters found they could no longer care for her.  We're happy to have her back for a repeat performance! She joined Julia and Chuck in Fairfax, VA on January 7. She was very scared the first night, but it didn't take her long to find her bark and after five days she began playing fetch and fiercely protecting her toys.  She does not like to be picked up but does like to be petted and have her fur brushed.  Looks like she enjoys a walk and enthusiastically takes the lead  -- but adjusts her speed to her walking buddy.   Meezy has had her vet checkup with primary care vet and an Internal Medicine specialist to see if there might be a health reason for her dislike of being picked up. Nothing was identified other than perhaps it causes back pain.  It was suggested Meezy may have dry eye so that will be checked in the near future. We are working on her extra weight with a ban on any treats other than boiled chicken and cooked carrots. She will need a quiet all adult home with few visitors.  She is very smart and responds well to positive reinforcement with treats and verbal praise. Meezy is staying with Julia in Fairfax, VA.

Adoption Process
We ask for a $25 processing fee. We require people to have a vet history, dog experience, and time to work with a dog.
