Ezra  NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Ezra        Best Guess for Breed:    Carolina dog/Corgi mix Best Guess for Age:    3 years as of March    Gender:   male Approximate Weight:    31 ilbs. Gets Along With: other dogs. We haven’t seen him with kids or cats, but we can discuss how to integrate your pet with them. Currently Living At: South Carolina rescue campus. He needs a forever or foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Ezra is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
