To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 4 months (as of 3/24/23) Weight: 28 lbs. (as of 3/24/23) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. This beautiful girl is affectionate, smart, and a little shy. We are thinking Rain is a Terrier mix about four months old. Her sister Rue, and Rain were strays and came to a foster home a few months ago, and now are both looking for forever homes! Rain can be nervous with new people, dogs, places and experiences. A potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, give her plenty of exercise, and provide training and structure as she transitions to life in a forever home. She is playful, sweet, and cuddly in the home when she is comfortable. She would do best in a low-key household without much foot traffic, no young children, no cats, and lots of patience and treats! She needs an adopter who is committed to keeping her world small until she starts to settle in. The adopter should plan to limit visitors to his home, leave the dog at home (crated – not loose!) rather than taking her to parties, soccer games, dog parks, etc, and focus on building a bond through structure and moderate obedience training. She is a smart girl that is crate trained and is working really hard on house training and walking on the leash but needs a little more practice. It would be cool for Rain to join a puppy training class. It would be a great way for her to work on skills and commands while also getting some bonus socialization time with other furry friends. We think she would benefit from another friendly well-balanced dog in her next household which could likely jump-start her confidence building and socialization. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. Rain is a happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
