Meet Sonia

Meet Sonia! A striking three-year-old Labrador Retriever/Great Dane mix from Chapel Hill, NC, whose regal black coat with charming white accents is only outshined by her boundless affection and intelligence. Sonia is a spirited and loyal companion with a sweet disposition, eagerly awaiting a family who can offer her the love, attention, and structure she needs to thrive. This majestic girl is as healthy as she is active, thriving on regular exercise and mental challenges. Sonia adores the great outdoors, whether she’s leaping gracefully like a gazelle through the woods or exploring new trails with her human companions. Off-leash, she moves with a grace that is truly mesmerizing, and on-leash, she’s learning to control her enthusiasm, especially when other dogs or new people come into view. Sonia is a dog who thrives on interaction and cannot be left home alone all day without feeling the strain. She’s happiest when she’s engaged in activities like long walks, tug o' war, or showing off her tricks for treats. She has a playful side, evidenced by her love of chew toys and her endearing habit of "burying" her bully sticks for later. Belly rubs are her ultimate indulgence, and she’ll snuggle right up to you as long as you keep the petting going! However, Sonia’s confidence is a work in progress. She’s reactive around other dogs and sometimes unfamiliar people, particularly on walks, where she might pull or lunge out of anxiety. Because of this, Sonia would thrive in a home with a pet parent experienced in handling dogs who need extra training and patience. With positive reinforcement and the right guidance, she’s more than capable of learning to navigate these challenges. At home, she’s a bit of a watchdog, barking and jumping when new visitors arrive, but she quickly calms down, especially if you remain calm and reassuring. Sonia’s ideal home would be one where she’s the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the attention and continue her training in a calm and consistent environment. A large backyard where she can roam and play would be a dream come true for her! She’s a smart and trainable dog who already knows commands like sit, stay, and lay down, and with more training, she’s sure to impress even further. Are you ready to bring this loving, energetic girl into your home and help her continue to grow into the confident and well-rounded dog she’s meant to be? Sonia is waiting for a family who understands her needs and is ready to embark on a journey of love, adventure, and mutual learning. Could that be you? Contact us at [email protected] to meet Sonia and start the next chapter of her life with her!
