To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 5 months (as of 03/03/23) Weight: 35.6 lbs (as of 03/11/23) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Droopy loves to play! He is also sweet, smart, and sometimes acts a little goofy! We are thinking Droopy, who also goes by Droopious Ceaser, is a Bassett Hound mix. Droopy is friendly with everyone he meets and was gentle with his former owners' 2-year-old but currently does not live with kids. His foster mom says he is just a puppy who does puppy things! He like other dogs but sometimes can be a bit overbearing and pushy when playing. He has been exposed to cats and is learning to be redirected but he still likes to chase them. He is a smart boy that is crate trained and housetraining and learning to walking on the leash are in progress. A potential adopter will need to go slow with Droopy, work on socialization, give him plenty of exercise, and provide training and structure as he transitions to life in a forever home. A fenced yard would be ideal so Droopy could run and play safely, but if that's not available he'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. Basic group training classes is recommended to help him learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Droopy is a happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Droopy’s story: His former owner has a 2-year-old and just had a new baby and caring for the two young children and a puppy was overwhelming so she reached out to a rescue for help in rehoming this sweet boy. Droopy is now living with a loving foster family and doing great! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
