Meet Max H

Max H is 2.5 years old. We are thinking that he is a Labsky (lab and husky mix). Behaviour: Max H is super sweet and active dog. He loves attention and hugs and always welcomes new people with a huge smile. His foster mom says that he is a happy-go-lucky boy who is very polite with everyone and doesn’t have any behavioral issues. He is well-socialized and acts confidently with all pups. Max H is comfortable living alone since during his first year of life, he was the only dog in the house. Good with other dogs: Max is being fostered with three 45 lbs female dogs. Friendly with all dogs of all sizes. He is very playful with dogs and likes to play catch and seek in the backyard. Children: Good with children. His foster mom has 2 granddaughters age 5 and 7. Cats: There are no cats in Max H’s foster home. During his walks, Max H can ignore cats but he may become a bit too interested in cats if the cats are running around. Housetrained: Max H is potty-trained. He is Ok being crated but his foster mom doesn’t like to crate any dogs. Energy level: Medium. Max H is fairly calm inside the house but once he goes into an open field, he will run in circles for about 10 min. He is very respectful of rules and will only play in his space and with his own toys inside the home. He needs to go out on 15-20 minutes walk at least once a day to release his energy. Training: He knows “sit” and “stop” in Spanish. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull. He is focused on the human’s walking pace. He needs some crate-training because he has been living crateless for over a year (he was crated when he was a young puppy only). Behaviors that need work: Because Max H is a very intelligent dog, he would benefit from training or from one-on-one activities with his human. It would be good for him to learn more commands. Ideal home: He would enjoy living in a house as the only dog or with other pups. He tends to be a couch potato inside of the house but enjoys going on walks with people. He wants to have a forever-human that he can follow around and cuddle with. Rescue story: Max H was given to the original owner, an elderly lady on a wheelchair, by the owner’s friend. This friend had a female dog that had 4 puppies and Max H was one of them. The owner had Max H for one year and then she passed away. She trained him to bring things to her and to walk at the same pace as her. When Max’s owner died, the owner’s daughter decided that she didn’t want any dogs in her home and almost dropped Max H at a local shelter. Max’s foster mom volunteered to take care oh him since she was afraid that he wouldn’t survive the local pound.Max is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you).To adopt or learn more about: you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT. Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort.If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM**The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.Sandy Paws Rescue’s MA license number # 0272
