Meet Ellie

Meet Ellie! A spirited five-year-old German Shepherd and American Staffordshire Terrier mix from Lexington, KY, whose essence is a vibrant blend of strength and affection wrapped in a bi-colored coat with charming white accents! Ellie's journey has been one of resilience and joy, and she’s now on a quest for a forever home that can match her playful energy and provide the tranquility she needs. Ellie is a medium-energy girl who loves to spend her days sunbathing, cuddling, and chasing after squirrels! Her favorite toys are hard plastic chew toys, antlers, and the indestructible Tuffy brand toys, which she loves to try and disintegrate over a few days. Ellie’s intelligence shines through her ability to follow commands like sit, stay, off, and down, and she has a reliable recall to "here." She is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys outdoor adventures! While Ellie is a happy-go-lucky girl, she has a high prey drive that makes her unsuitable for a home with cats or small animals. This trait has caused her stress in her current home, where she coexists with a cat, leading to restless nights and anxiety. Therefore, Ellie is seeking a cat-free environment where she can relax and enjoy life to the fullest. Ellie has shown some resource guarding behavior over food, so she would do best with a family that understands this and can manage it appropriately. Despite this, she is generally friendly with other large dogs who can match her energy level and enjoys their company. She particularly prefers women and has a protective side, often showing her affection by barking to alert her loved ones. Ideal for a home with a fenced yard where she can run and play safely, Ellie thrives on a routine of morning and afternoon feedings, with free time in the yard during the day. She is comfortable being left alone for short periods and has no known health issues, being up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped! Ellie’s endearing personality is sure to win your heart! Her ability to bring joy and laughter to your life is unparalleled, and she is eagerly waiting for a family that can provide the loving and stable home she needs. Are you ready to welcome Ellie into your life and embark on a new adventure together? If so, please reach out to [email protected]. Ellie can't wait to meet you!
