Meet Blondie

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE   Age: 2 yrs 9 Months (as of 11/1/24) Weight: 38.8 lbs (as of 11/6/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Blondie is a sweetheart! She is also great with her foster home's resident dogs/cats/kittens. She is house trained and uses a doggy door to let herself out, is good in a crate, and walks well on a leash. As you can see from her picture - she loves to cuddle up with her favorite toys or shower her favorite humans with affection. She has not lived with children yet and we think she would prefer a lower traffic home with someone who has the patience to let her settle in to her new environment. She could over time become an adventurous dog with patience and going at her pace, or she would be totally content being a couch potato and homebody with you. In some new situations she may try to escape out of fear and she can be a little anxious in the car. She is timid at first but does settle with some time and encouragement usually after about 15-20 minutes. Blondie’s story: Blondie was found as a stray in Arkansas where she picked a large cardboard box outside someone's home to deliver her puppies in. Our southern rescuer partner was able to step in and quickly locate the family a loving foster home. All her puppies have found homes and now it's time for Blondie's happily ever after! If you felt Blondie tugging at your heartstrings - apply to adopt this sweet lady today!  Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future.  Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home.  This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment and is expected to complete treatment with no complications.  Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
