Meet Remi Cord - MEET ME!

To apply to adopt this dog now and/or meet in a private meeting on November 4th or sooner, complete our adoption application HERE If not adopted beforehand, this dog will be available for a private meeting with approved adopters on November 4th, and then attend the Super Dog Adoption Event on November 4th at Clark Farms Matunuck, RI.  Learn more about this event and sign up for 10am Early Entry HERE   Age: 1 year old (as of 8/5/23) Weight: 24.3 pounds (as of 10/15/23) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Remi Cord is an outgoing and playful dog, who was found dumped by a river with Twix, another current SOS dog. The person who rescued them was caught off guard when Remi turned out to be pregnant, and she gave birth to Charles and Millicent Cord, who are also available for adoption.  Remi and Twix spent several months living in a home where they spent most of their time outside in the yard, with minimal indoors time. They lived with an adult couple, children, and other dogs. Remi and Twig were friendly and affectionate with everyone in the household. Recently, Remi was moved to a new foster home, where she has been staying with an adult woman, another dog, and a cat.  Now, Remi is almost always indoors and has been integrated into her foster home. When her foster parent is working, Remi is calm and quiet in her kennel. She likes to chase other dogs and wrestle with them but will also jump up and cuddle on your lap. She mostly ignores in the resident cat, but easily redirected or distracted, if she gets too excited. She is consistently playful, but also responsive to corrections. She enjoys going new places, and meeting people, but is able to settle down quickly. Sometimes, Remi can be a scamp. She tends to jump on guests and children and be a little rowdy, so she may not be the best fit for a home with very young children. Sometimes, she will rummage through the garbage, and she is learning what is and is not appropriate to chew. Remi is making progress with her housetraining and crate training. She is working on not pulling the leash when she is taking a walk.  She should thrive with a patient adopter who will commit to continuing her training.    We strongly recommend that all of our puppies and young dogs attend obedience training to learn commands, develop confidence, and socialize with other dogs. In spite of her difficult past as a stray, Remi is a happy and fun dog who should be a wonderful companion to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her. Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see              HERE   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
