Tyson's Place Animal Rescue

We began taking in animals in 2015. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets. We interpret this mission to mean we help people going into nursing homes, assisted living, hospice, managing illness, and after the owner has passed away. We want to provide people and pets with peace of mind. We want owners to know their animals are well cared for and to keep senior animals out of shelters.

Meet Sassy

Meet Sassy – A Sweet Soul Ready for a Fresh Start! Sassy is a loving and resilient 7-year-old girl who is slowly blossoming into a friendly, engaging companion. She came to us after her owner moved into a nursing home, and over the past two months, we’ve had the joy of getting to know her unique personality and specific needs. Sassy arrived overweight, which has been tough on her joints, but she’s making great progress! She absolutely loves her daily walks and needs an adopter who will help her continue her weight loss journey with plenty of exercise and a carefully measured diet. Her ideal weight is around 6-7 pounds, and she’s already working hard to get there. She needs an adopter who can take her on daily walks at a minimum. She has worked up to 20 minute walks with her foster mom. Though she’s naturally a bit shy in new situations, Sassy is gaining confidence every day. With the help of a behavioral trainer, we’ve developed a simple, positive-reinforcement plan to help her feel more secure. She’s responding beautifully and has started engaging more with her foster family. Sassy is also on an inexpensive daily medication ($10/month) to prevent seizures, and since starting it, she’s been completely seizure-free! She’s a smart, affectionate girl who loves her people and has lived harmoniously with other small dogs and cats. She is also fully housebroken. The ideal home for Sassy would be with a patient, dog-savvy owner who can continue to support her confidence and health journey. Due to her shy nature, a quieter home without young children would be best. If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted companion and are ready to help Sassy live her best life, she’d love to meet you! Could Sassy be your perfect match? Reach out to learn more! Email [email protected] for more information.

Adoption Process
We have an adoption application, which is reviewed by a committee, we then do a visit with the animal, and if everything goes well, an adoption contact is signed. Depending on the medical needs of the animals, the adoption fee ranges from waived to $175.
