Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

Meet Nancy

We are a foster home based rescue. Please fill out the online adoption application by clicking on Adoption Info under the Navigation bar on the left side of the page.Nancy is a breeder release girl and was pretty timid at first. She has come out of her shell and is ready fur her family. She will need a fenced yard to keep her safe.  Nancy is about 5 years old and weighs 6.2 pounds. 

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
