Meet Izzy
Meet Izzy!Izzy is a stunning 4-year-old Shepherd/Collie mix, weighing in at 70 pounds, and carries herself with a quiet grace. Beneath her beautiful exterior, however, lies a heart that has been shaped by a difficult past—one that needs a patient and loving family to help her adjust to her newfound life!Izzy is house-trained and crate-trained. She is incredibly intelligent and knows basic commands like sit, lay, and shake, especially if a tasty treat is involved! Her favorite things include tennis balls, squeaky toys, walks, and—above all else—being close to the people she trusts. She has a soft spot for belly rubs and will nuzzle her head into your hand if you stop petting her before she’s had her fill of affection!Izzy is a sensitive and fearful dog who has likely experienced trauma. When she first arrives in a new home, she is incredibly cautious and requires a decompression period before being ready to get to know someone new. It took her about a week to fully trust her foster family, and now she greets them with love and loyalty. Her new home should expect a similar adjustment period, with slow introductions and a predictable routine to help her feel secure.Izzy would do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. Her past experiences have made her wary around small animals, and she can be reactive toward them. Her response to other large dogs is neutral, and a potential canine sibling would need to be introduced carefully to ensure compatibility.Izzy’s ideal home is quiet and structured, without young children or frequent visitors. She needs an adopter who is patient, understanding, and willing to take the time to build her trust. She is currently starting anxiety medication, which may help her transition more smoothly into a new environment. She would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can explore at her own pace. While she enjoys walks, she has a low energy level and spends most of her day lounging in a cozy spot. Though she may be nervous at first, Izzy is worth the patience it takes to win her over—because when you do, you will have a fiercely loyal and loving best friend for life.Izzy is not a dog for a first-time or casual pet owner—she needs someone committed to helping her feel safe in a world that has been scary for her. However, for the right person, Izzy will be an incredibly devoted and loving companion. Once she trusts you, she is full of affection, snuggles, and goofy moments that will bring joy to your life!If you think you can provide Izzy with the calm, understanding home she needs, she will reward you with unwavering companionship and a heart full of love.If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
