Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. We are a small, volunteer run organization. All of our animals listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the animals' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter. This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We provide all needed supplies and cover medical costs of the foster while it awaits a forever home.

Meet Russell D5963 - ADOPTION BEING FINALIZED

Hi, I am Russell. My foster family is guessing I am around 5-6 months old and a bully breed mix. Right now I am 35 pounds, but based on the size of my paws and tail, they're telling me I am going to be a big boy! I was found as a stray and brought to a local animal shelter where my foster family brought me to their house. I was a little scared at first but quickly learned how nice and cozy it is here! I definitely have puppy energy but am good at also settling in for epic cuddle sessions on the couch. I have an older bully breed friend here to play with and I am very respectful of her space and so good at reading her queues. But I do like to play A LOT. I would love a home with another energetic dog friend or with humans who have lots of time and energy to play with me! I absolutely love toys and do a great job entertaining myself with lots of toys to choose from. My foster family has two teen kids, who are my favorite. I have a met a few little kids who they know too, and did great around them as well!   I can be a little nervous in new situations or around new people but quickly warm up with a little love, and treats help too! I am very food motivated which makes me very easy to train. I am already potty trained and even learned to ring the bell when I need to go outside! I mastered “sit” in one day and am eager to learn lots of other tricks and commands. Since I will be a big boy, it'll be important that I find a family that will spend lots of time training me to listen and be polite. I walk really nicely on a leash. Sometimes walks can be scary for me at first, but if we take it slow and you reassure me that I am safe, I quickly realize how much fun it is to explore and sniff. I love being in my crate when my foster family is gone or at night to sleep, and sometimes I even choose to go in my crate for a nap. At night I don’t make a peep until the morning when I am ready for breakfast!    My foster mom is always saying this about me: “Russell is playful but cuddly, smart but cautious, and so respectful of all people and dogs. He’s really a gem and going to make a family so incredibly happy!!” Are you that family? I can’t wait to meet you! Love, Russell ...

Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an adoption application. After reviewing your application and contacting the vet and personal references, a meeting is scheduled between the potential adopter and the pet, in the foster's home or a neutral animal friendly place. If there are any resident animals within the home, it is required that they meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. 6 month post-adoption check in is completed.
