Meet Lewey, the ever-so-loving long-haired Chihuahua who will melt your heart! Lewey is eager to show off his adorable underbite, complemented by freshly cleaned choppers. This sweet boy came to us through a breeder release. While we don’t know the exact conditions he was raised in, it was clear he hadn’t experienced the care and love of a true family pet. Upon arrival, Lewey’s skin was flaky and dry, and he had numerous sores. His ears were infected, and he desperately craved love and attention. Now, in his foster home, he’s adjusting beautifully and showing us what a resilient little dog he is. Lewey gets along well with other dogs, though he mostly ignores them, preferring to spend his days snoozing peacefully. Potty training is a work in progress, and he’ll need a belly band to help with accidents. The cold weather hasn’t been ideal for his training, but can you blame him? It’s been crazy out there! Despite this, Lewey’s foster family is helping him along, and he’s making steady progress. Occasionally, Lewey will bark at things he finds amiss or when furniture is moved around. He’s a little guardian of order and remembers where everything belongs! Recently, Lewey underwent a full dental cleaning, during which nine teeth were pulled. He’s feeling much better now and is on track for his neuter appointment on January 29th. After one week of post-op recovery, he’ll be ready to join his forever family. Lewey is searching for a loving home where he can continue to heal, receive care for his skin, and work on his training. This little guy has been through so much but remains a bundle of love, ready to brighten your life with his gentle spirit. Are you the one to give Lewey the happy ending he deserves?
Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an adoption application. After reviewing your application and contacting the vet and personal references, a meeting is scheduled between the potential adopter and the pet, in the foster's home or a neutral animal friendly place. If there are any resident animals within the home, it is required that they meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. 6 month post-adoption check in is completed.
