Pet Haven Inc. of MN

Pet Haven is Minnesota's oldest animal rescue group. Pet Haven's vision is to be a rewarding place to volunteer, find a quality home for each animal, encourage a community of responsible companion animal guardians, eliminate the community's need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and encourage a society where animals become more valued.

Meet Augie

Augie is a lovable, intelligent, and resilient 2-year-old Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as his personality! Despite having only three legs due to a front-right leg amputation, Augie doesn’t let that slow him down—he runs, climbs stairs, and plays just like any other dog. He is an affectionate and devoted companion who thrives on being part of a family and has some of the best recall skills his foster family has ever seen.Fully house-trained, Augie will let you know when he needs to go out by finding you and giving you a signature stare or by waiting patiently near the door. While he is crate-trained, he doesn’t require crating, and he prefers a molded kennel over a wire crate when given the choice. Augie has lived with other dogs and cats and does well with both. He also has experience with children of various ages and has proven to be gentle and well-mannered with them. He picks up on social cues and is generally polite in his interactions!Augie has a few adorable quirks that make him extra special. He tends to drink water a little too fast, which often results in a cute little burp a few minutes later. When it’s mealtime, his excitement is impossible to miss—he spins in fast circles when he sees his food bowl. His most cherished possession is his stuffed bear, which he carries around like it’s his baby. He loves playing fetch, roaming the yard, and simply being close to his people. While Augie doesn’t require a fenced yard, he would certainly enjoy one. He’s still learning to walk on a leash but loves his outdoor time and is eager to follow his humans wherever they go. He prefers not to be left alone for long periods and would do best in a home where someone is around throughout the day. Highly intelligent and eager to learn, Augie would make an excellent candidate for trick training or obedience work. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and exceptionally loyal dog who will bring endless joy and companionship, Augie is ready to be your best friend! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
