Meet Papa Jean
This 4-year-old, 25 lb Beagle is the sweetest cuddler! Papa Jean is the perfect size for snuggles on the couch and fits seamlessly into a laid-back household. Despite his timid nature, this little guy is blossoming into a loyal and affectionate companion who adores being near his people (and sometimes trying to take your slippers!).Papa Jean is still recovering from his former life as a breeding mill dog, so he is learning how to live his best life in a family home environment. While he's still working on house training, he’s shown great potential with a consistent schedule and patient guidance. He’s not yet crate trained but has handled kennel situations well when needed, showing the he is adaptable and that his trust is growing. True to his Beagle roots, he can be a bit vocal when the mailman comes or when someone leaves, but his mild separation anxiety is manageable. He’s happiest when people are around but has done well when left alone for a few hours.Though he’s a little shy around new dogs and kids, slow introductions help him feel at ease, and he’s proving to be a mellow and friendly pup. So far, he has has some success with the neighbor kids petting him while he's out for a walk, so he's warming up to others well. With cats, he’s a wonderful roommate—happy to coexist and occasionally play, though he mostly leaves them be.Papa Jean’s favorite activities include taking luxurious naps on the couch, enjoying the occasional cheese treat, sometimes playing fetch alone—tossing his toys in the air and chasing them himself! If you're with him, he is also happy to play tug-of-war with his favorite cow toy. He’s a chill dog who doesn’t require hours of exercise, so just a walk or two with some backyard playtime has been working great. He loves to run in circles to tire himself out, and loves exploring the backyard. This sweet boy’s past has made him cautious in new situations, but his gentle resilience shines through as he learns to trust. A quiet, patient home with loving humans will help him continue to grow into the confident, cuddly dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a low-energy, lovable pup who’s ready to be part of your family, Papa Jean is your guy!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
