Benji is a 10-week-old Collie/Lab/Shepherd mix who is brimming with spunk and mischief! As the runt of his litter, Benji might be small—currently weighing just 10 pounds—but he has a heart and energy twice his size.He is adjusting to his new home easily, special thanks to his foster sister! Benji adores his foster sister, Lyra, a 6-month-old shepherd mix, and has become her tiny shadow. He learns quickly by copying her, whether it’s racing through the yard or mastering new skills. Potty training is going well, with Benji succeeding about 90% of the time. He already barks to be let out—Benji has the most adorable bark and a tiny howl that he uses to “talk” when he’s playful or wants attention. Despite this, he goes to his crate at night without a peep, sleeping soundly through the night from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. He’s incredibly smart and already knows how to sit, shake, lie down, and even spin! His eagerness to learn and love of treats (peanut butter is his favorite) make him a joy to train.This fearless little guy is always up for an adventure with friends. Socializing with Lyra has made Benji a friend to all dogs, so he loves meeting other pups and greets them with friendly enthusiasm. He’s even shown polite curiosity around cats and could thrive with proper introductions. Benji is great with kids, but supervised time with small children is a must to ensure safe and gentle interactions for everyone. Providing him with plenty of chew toys helps keep his teething tendencies directed appropriately.Despite his smaller size, Benji proves he’s full of big dog energy! Whether he’s zooming around the yard, playing with his favorite squeaky toys, or learning new tricks, Benji gives it his all. Benji doesn’t require a fenced yard, but daily exercise and outdoor time is a must to burn off his high energy. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
