Meet Dixie
Meet Dixie – The Sweet Southern Belle! Cat Friendly!!! Dixie is a charming 2 year-old Doberman mix from Louisiana, weighing in at just 48 pounds—making her a pint-sized version of the classic Doberman! This lovely girl is housebroken, crate trained, and eager to please her people. She’s also a world-class snuggler who thrives on love and attention. One of the wonderful perks of adopting a Doberman mix like Dixie is the possibility of enjoying the breed's amazing qualities without some of the health concerns often seen in purebred Dobermans. This can mean more years of love and companionship with fewer vet visits. Dixie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and ready to start her next chapter with a family who will cherish her. Her smaller size, combined with her sweet and loyal nature, makes her the perfect fit for almost any home. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who’s big on love but small in stature, Dixie might just be your perfect match. This is her foster moms update on Dixie- " Dixie is such a sweet loving industrial strength Velcro dobe!!I I have named her Dixie ilean Dober-girl, she is so ready for a fur ever home! She wants lots of attention and is so very eager to please. She has got an iron bladder ( I am jealous of) and is able and so willing to follow basic commands. She knows come, sit, off and kennel. She is getting better with work- stay, down and leash walking. I have not noted any negative behaviors. She does NOT chew on items left out and does NOT play with toys. I think she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She has the ears, tail, grey muzzle and double coat from shoulders forward look of a Cattle dog/blue heeler and combined with Dobe- really be a working girl at heart. Being just 2 yo she is full of energy, exuberance , jumps, leaps and gets the squirrely zooms. This is outside behavior, but she is appropriate indoors; very careful and protective of me with my walker and rolling stool. She loves her crate! I have it covered and she will go in it to nap and sleep at night. I have removed gates as she is very obedient and understands “No”. She likes all people male/female, old/young. I don’t know about small children- I suspect she would “love to herd” them? She does well with mailman, trash man, neighbors who may knock on the door or be in the yard. If they are new to her or back door is closed she has a beautiful protective bark but would probably welcome a robber if they spoke sweetly to her, Lol! She even likes Jack the CAT!!! They vie for the sun spot in front of the glass door. Jack the cat will lick and groom Dixies face and ears then playfully sink his fangs into Dixie’s neck. He retreats and acts disgusted with the taste of her fur or a wack of her tail. They play: Dixie herds Jack to the table area and he jumps to the chairs and becomes Jackie Chan batting her slyly and running and jumping to another chair to the pop up and bat her playfully. She is protective of her food and does growl at the cat when he gets close. I put her food bowl in her crate and swing the door closed but don’t latch it -so she comes out when she is done. I can pick up her food bowl move it , touch it with ease! She loves to lay in a sun beam but is no shrinking southern Belle… she loves the snow and playing in it and does not hesitant to go out in sub zero temps. She does great scaling the stairs to/from the back yard / deck. I do not see her chase birds or attempt to jump the fence." Dixie really sounds like the perfect companion!!! Apply to adopt this southern belle today and let her bring some extra love into your life!
