This is a disorder where the pituitary gland produces excess cortisol. This requires daily medication to keep regulated. This medication costs about $90 per month. He will also require testing every 6-12 months depending on the veterinarian, to make sure this is regulated. The testing costs about $145 each time. His next test will be due Aug 2025. As a result of his Cushing's Disease he has an elevated liver enzyme. A daily medication is taken for this. However as his Cushing's Disease continues to regulate this should be able to be discontinued. ** Dorian has been diagnosed with Mitral valve disease stage B2. Mitral valve disease occurs when the valve undergoes a degenerative change, thickens and becomes floppier. The cause is unknown but a genetic component is suspected. In stage B2 A murmur is heard and there is evidence of heart enlargement, but no signs of heart failure. Many dogs do not show any outward clinical signs (e.g., coughing, lethargy, inappetence) despite progressing to this stage, so it is important to have regular echocardiograms performed to catch it early. It is recommended that he have a follow up echo around 2/1/2026. He requires 2 daily medications for this, the monthly total is around $74 . Dorian would love to find his forever family Foster Home Feedback 2/5/2025 Foster Feedback: Dorian is a quiet, mature man! He doesn’t mind cats or dogs as long as they aren't in his face. He is potty pad trained but will go outside if grass is present. Dorian loves to eat and snuggle! We have stairs for him so he can get on the couch. He is on some medications but readily takes them in some wet food or pill pocket! Dorian is a very nice, easy dog to have!
