Meet Jasper

***Fully Sponsored*** That Means That With An Approved Application, Jasper Is $0! Jasper came in with a snout full of porcupine quills! They were removed that night. (On christmas Eve, 2023)  This sweet lab mix remains unclaimed and is looking for a new family to share all his love and loyalty. Jasper is approximately 2 years old, and a little timid at first, but if you have some food, and willing to give some hugs or belly rubs, he will become your best friend! He's a perfect, medium size weighing in at 55 pounds with a shiny black coat and he loves cuddles - so he'd make a great lap dog if you let him.  He'd have to be invited up on the couch though as he appears to have some good manners. With a little practice, he'll be a pro at anything he needs to learn.  He doesn't jump up on you, so kids would be okay with this guy. He gets along with other dogs if properly introduced, but does not like cats.  He loves to go on walks and he's been really good on a leash, walking sedately on the side or slightly ahead.  He likes to throw around a stuffed toy and play around with another dog, when given the chance! He is a lovable guy, and very food motivated so additional training should be a piece of cake.  When you meet Jasper you'll be meeting your new best friend! He is nervous at the vet when it comes to strangers touching his back side, but he does great with a muzzle on! It helps soothe his anxiety. He is scared of brooms, shovels etc. so anything you are using for outdoor work, he will keep a little bit of distance until he knows he can trust you. He has some mannerisms as if he was abused in his past life, which just makes him all the more loving when he has bonded with you. He is working on basic commands, but still needs some work. He takes treats gently, loves to be leaning against you, belly rubs, and does great when you give him a kiss on the snout! (When he trusts you, otherwise he is basically saying "why are you touching me?") :) He is a happy, go-getter, and would thrive in any household, with children, and adults.    If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts.  Please visit our website for additional information. The online application can be found at :https://hsburnettcty.org/adoption-guidelines/
