Pet Haven Inc. of MN

Pet Haven is Minnesota's oldest animal rescue group. Pet Haven's vision is to be a rewarding place to volunteer, find a quality home for each animal, encourage a community of responsible companion animal guardians, eliminate the community's need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and encourage a society where animals become more valued.

Meet Casper

Casper is an adorable 5-year-old Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as his personality! Weighing just 10 pounds, he’s the perfect lap dog who thrives on love, attention, and companionship. Casper is working on becoming fully potty trained and wears a belly band indoors to help encourage him to wait until he’s outside. This process has been going very well, no accidents so far! He is crate trained and prefers to sleep at night in the same crate as the other dog in the home. This companionship has helped him tremendously with his recent transition, allowing him to feel safe in his new environment! Based on this, a confident resident dog is highly recommended for Casper. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, Casper’s friendly and calm demeanor may be a good fit for some resident cats! This sweet little guy is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with people. He is incredibly quiet—he’s only barked once since arriving in his foster home! Even when strangers come to visit, Casper patiently waits for pets without jumping up on them. One of Casper’s cutest quirks is his habit of walking on his back legs when waiting for his food—almost as if he’s trying to sneak a peek at what’s on the menu! His absolute favorite treat? Frozen green beans!Casper has a medium energy level and would likely enjoy short daily walks once the weather warms up. Since he is a flight risk, a secure fence is required, or he will need to be on a leash or tie-out at all times. He has adjusted wonderfully in his foster home and is truly a loving and affectionate companion. If you’re looking for a quiet, cuddly pup who will be your shadow, Casper is the perfect match!https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
