Meet Hutch

Hutch came to the shelter as a stray on 12/16/2024. We held him for the legal hold time and no one claimed him. We're guessing he could have mini Australian shepherd, border collie, and maybe some sort of spaniel and/or terrier in his breed mix. Don't hold us to this, however, because we're just not positive. He's a petite young guy who could still be under a year old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped and his fee is $150. Hutch is a shy guy but is well mannered and enjoys attention. Once he's comfy with people, he's very loving and kind of goofy. He keeps his kennel clean at the shelter. He will need some basic training as he's not too sure about the whole leash thing. He would prefer a somewhat quiet ADULT only home. Teens are okay. Cats are probably a no for him. He has done okay with dogs of similar size but can be a bit reluctant to share attention. He will need some consistent grooming as he does have a somewhat wavy coat. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.

Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
