Pet Haven Inc. of MN

Pet Haven is Minnesota's oldest animal rescue group. Pet Haven's vision is to be a rewarding place to volunteer, find a quality home for each animal, encourage a community of responsible companion animal guardians, eliminate the community's need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and encourage a society where animals become more valued.

Meet Dagny

This 3-year-old female Keeshond is sassy and independent! Dagny, meaning “new day,” is a quirky girl will make you laugh with her little habits, especially when she hypes herself up with practice hops before tackling the stairs, or when she rolls on her back to scratch the places she can’t quite reach. This brave girl has come a long way since being rescued from an abandoned hoarding house. While Dagny is house-trained, it has been an adjustment for her to learn house rules and a new schedule. She’s crate-trained, but she's happy to let you know when she’s ready to come out. Dagny is highly vocal, barking to communicate her needs or excitement, so a home without shared walls is required (no apartments/townhomes). Currently weighing 60 pounds, Dagny is also on a weight-loss journey to help manage her arthritis and improve her overall health. Dagny is happiest on sniff walks, gnawing on nylabones, or lounging in the snow. She loves lounging on furniture, especially recliners, and has discovered the joys of toys and couch time in her foster home. While Dagny is well-behaved when left alone, she likes to keep her brain busy and does best with enrichment activities, so she can get into trouble if given the chance. A family who can give her daily short walks, enrichment activities to keep her mind active, and who has experience with spitz breeds and their personalities will be ideal. She gets along best with male dogs of similar or smaller size but may need slow introductions to ensure compatibility. Dagny hasn’t been tested with cats, and her interactions with children are still uncertain, so careful introductions in either case are recommended. While Dagny takes a little time to warm up to strangers, once she decides you’re her person, she will reveal her marshmallow-soft side!Dagny is ready for a fresh start in a forever home filled with patience, love, and understanding. If you’re looking for a spunky, independent companion who will warm your heart, Dagny is ready for you!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional's recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal's history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
