Meet Dog the Bounty Hunter

Dog is initially pretty timid of people, men in particular, and attempted some posturing behavior towards my resident dogs. After he was given a quiet place to decompress over the weekend, I introduced him to all five of my dogs one at a time and he had no problem at all.  During his first week with us he had zero desire to interact with my boyfriend, but after a few tasty treats were thrown in his direction went from outright avoidant to "you can look, but don't touch", to "I suppose we can nap together".  We have several resident cats that Dog showed very little interest in at first but will now chase one or two of them if encouraged (by the cat of course). Dog eats in his kennel and will sleep in the kennel at night without much of a fuss. We have let him sleep in our bed a couple of times since he is so fond of my electric blanket and has no issues as long as a cat doesn't step on him, and he's gone to the bathroom right before bed. I think Dog would be a great addition to almost any family, as long as respect for boundaries is maintained by any young children. Dog has shown no fear-based aggression, but due to his small size and apprehension for all things new, it would be best to make sure he is not pushed to nip in an attempt to regain a sense of safety. By letting Dog decide if he wanted to be pet, held, or exit his kennel, and not forcing anything, Dog fairly quickly became comfortable. Now, Dog dances when either of us come home, races around with our dogs, and is so excited the electric blanket gets turned on! 1/31/2023 Foster Feedback: Dog the Bounty Hunter is a cautious creature that would benefit from time to decompress and learn the lay of the land. He has been at my house for almost two months, and I feel like I’m getting to see what kind of dog he really is. He seems to pick one person to attach to and seeks them out. He will often bark if someone comes into the house or room. He loves to sit under a blanket on my legs and will sleep under the covers by my feet. He does well with my small dog and two cats. He seems to want to play but has a hard time reading cues from other animals. He is less interested in his kennel and hasn’t destroyed anything if left out. He is learning about potty training, and I suspect he will do better as it gets warmer.  Bounty is a sweet dog who is uncertain but wants to love. He will need time and patience as he moves into an adoptive home. When he is comfortable, he is funny, curious, and very fast!   1/31/2023 Foster Feedback: I have had Dog the Bounty Hunter for 10 days. Poor guy spent the first 2 days hiding under a blanket and wouldn't eat/drink/potty. He finally started to come out of his shell, but he was very selective on who he wanted to be around, which was me. He growled at anyone that came near me. He did let me pet him, pick him up, hand feed him, did great on walks.  Potty was challenging because it's been so cold, but did ok 75% of the time. He slept great in the kennel, no issues.  12/10/2022 Foster Feedback: Hi there, I’m Dog the Bounty Hunter! I am feeling a bit uncertain with all of the changes I’ve been through lately, but my foster mom said my personality is starting to shine through. I will need a family that can give me some time to adjust and feel confident. I live with a dog that is a little bigger than me and two cats and we get along just fine. I’m getting the hang of potty training and I am very comfortable in my kennel. Stay tuned for more updates, but if I sound like a good fit please fill out an application today!
