Heartland German Shepherd Rescue

We are a small, local, breed-specific non-profit rescue. We rescue abused/abandoned/neglected German Shepherd dogs, rehabilitate them and place them in permanent homes. We do not have a facility: dogs are housed in approved foster homes until they find their permanent home.

Meet Bianca *PENDING*

Bianca is beautiful, very sweet two and half year old white German Shepherd that was rescued when she was heavily pregnant. Luckily for her she was able to give birth to her 10 puppies in the comfort of her foster home. Bianca gave birth on July 31, 2024 to ten puppies: six boys (Mozarella, Gouda, Cheddar, Asiago, Feta, and Cheesestick) and four girls (Raspberry, Blueberry, Clementine, and Kiwi). Bianca and all ten of her puppies have been thriving in their foster home. Bianca was a fantastic, very devoted mom. Her puppies are now weaned and in foster or adoptive homes of their own, and it's time for Bianca to find a great fur-ever home for herself. Bianca is so wonderful. She was found roaming the streets scared, heavily pregnant, hungry, thirsty, and overheated. She is enjoying being loved and cared for, and having all the food, fresh water, toys, and a house with lots of love. She rides well in the car, walks well on a leash, and she is a super nice girl. She can initially be a little timid towards new men, but she is a gentle soul. Bianca came to us heartworm positive and now that she is done raising her babies, she can start Heartworm treatment (which would be included with the adoption).  Bianca is a very fast learner. She knows how to sit, does great going potty outside. She does get a little stressed when her humans leave, but is learning that it's ok, they will always come back :). Bianca doesn’t care about cats. She currently lives with cats and two small dogs right now, but she is more interested in humans. Bianca is going to make someone a wonderful family pet, as she is a lovely girl!!! Her foster family absolutely adores her, as do we all, and we cannot wait to see her flourish in her forever home. Bianca's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age- appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. Like all GSDs, and other herding breeds that we have in rescue, Bianca will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to be a well-balanced, well-behaved dog. This sweet boy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that he needs. Because of that, Bianca's ideal owner will have prior GSD, or other similar breed experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills and manners.

Adoption Process
Application process includes 3 unrelated personal references, a vet check, and a home visit. Applicants are matched up to a dog that matches their living situation and skill level. Adoption contract is signed after successful meet and greet. Adoption fees range from $250-450 depending on the dog's age.
