Heartland German Shepherd Rescue

We are a small, local, breed-specific non-profit rescue. We rescue abused/abandoned/neglected German Shepherd dogs, rehabilitate them and place them in permanent homes. We do not have a facility: dogs are housed in approved foster homes until they find their permanent home.

Meet Jersey

Meet Jersey! Jersey is that “it girl” – the one with the perfectly perky ears, creamy complexion, and a shiny coat that turns heads wherever she goes. At about 4 months old, this young German Shepherd puppy has it all: intelligence, kindness, and deep, soulful eyes that will melt your heart. But let’s be honest, keeping up with Jersey’s charm does require a little maintenance. However, it’s a small price to pay for those dreamy eyes that watch your every move. Jersey lives to steal your heart – and maybe a few other things too, like your cell phone, underwear, keys, hats, dish towels, socks… you get the picture. But don’t worry, it’s all very endearing! She carries herself, and her “treasures,” with such grace, you’ll know she’s just making sure you’re never without her. Personality: Jersey is as affectionate as they come. She loves showering her people and doggy friends with kisses, but she’s also considerate enough to listen if anyone needs a break from all that love. She’s happiest cuddling up in a lofty bed fit for a queen, but she’s also perfectly content in her crate, which she keeps exceptionally clean. And did we mention? She wouldn’t dream of doing her business inside – this girl’s got impeccable manners. Lifestyle: Jersey is always ready for an adventure! Whether it’s running errands, going for a ride in the backseat, or just hanging out with you, she shines wherever she goes. With Jersey by your side, you’ll always have a loyal companion who’s ready to steal the show – and maybe a few socks too. Don’t wait too long to apply – there might be a line!   Like any of our dogs, this stunning girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs. Because of that, Jersey's ideal owner will have prior GSD or similar herding breed experience, and a friendly dog buddy for Jersey. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners. Jersey's adoption fee is $450, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.
