Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue

Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue in Nebraska is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our all volunteer mission is to keep Huskies and Malamutes out of shelters where they are at risk of being killed due to overcrowding. Siberian Huskies are beautiful. It's hard not to fall in love with their fluffy coats and gorgeous eyes, it's hard not to laugh at their antics and marvel at their independent intelligence. But with the fur comes the shedding, with the antics comes possible destruction and with the independence and intelligence comes a rather nomadic Houdini of a dog that wants to escape and run for the fun of it. Often these dogs are adopted by people who are not prepared for the very traits they were attracted to. Some husky owners are not prepared for the amount of energy these dogs have and the exercise they require. They are intelligent, but often easily bored and not easy to train, they can be stubborn and mischievous. Please research this breed carefully before you choose to adopt a Siberian husky.

Meet Leo

Rawr rawr! I'm Leo the Lion Husky! The only thing that competes with my stunning good looks is my insane energy! I'm also SO sweet and goofy! I LOVE car rides and I'm a perfect gentleman in a vehicle. I sit quietly in the backseat and just enjoy the ride. I will definitely stick my nose out the window if we stop for a pup cup, but I'm very polite! I walk fabulously on a leash with just a bit of pulling and stopping to smell the occasional fire hydrant. I'm curious about people and other dogs on walks, but non-reactive and easy to redirect. I'm a smart guy and quickly learned the route back to my foster house! I've done great with kids and play gently and enjoy pets, giving kisses and sitting in laps for lovies. I do have a lot of energy and right now and I like to bounce and jump, so any kids in my new family need to be able to handle that. I have also done great with other dogs. I'm treat motivated, I know some basic commands, and my recall is pretty good! I could be a real Velcro type dog. I love attention, cuddling and being with my people. Right now I have more energy than even a typical husky, and since I'm young and very smart I really need someone to do stuff with me and teach me things. I am very excited sometimes and I express that by bouncing! My jumps are very friendly but I could accidentally knock somebody down. I am also not a big fan of my crate. I have been crate trained before but right now I cry a lot in there. I just want to be with people all the time! If you want a loveable, trainable very best friend and have plenty of time and energy to devote to me, I'll pay you back by being your loving, fun, and adorable companion! Fill out an application and mention me, Leo!

Adoption Process
Our Adoption Process After you submit your adoption application, via our website, http://TaysiaBlue.com, a Taysia Blue volunteer will contact you within 2-3 days. We are most interested in which type dog will be a good fit for you and your family and the other pets in your home. We will also contact you by phone to learn more about the dog you're looking for and to review the current available dogs in our rescue. We will schedule an appointment for you to meet the dog(s). If a match is made, we can complete the adoption process at that time. If we don't find the perfect match, we'll keep trying till we do! We hope that your home is the very last stop on the dog's journey and we do all we can to help you and your dog make the transition easier, including providing you with an information packet loaded with tips and resources. Our quality standard vet care is as follows: • Spay/Neuter - All dogs will be spayed or neutered prior to being adopted. • Heartworm Test - If the heartworm test is negative, the dog is placed on regular heartworm preventative. If the heartworm test is positive, the dog is treated to eradicate the heartworms and then placed on regular heartworm preventative. • Rabies vaccination • DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo) vaccination • Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccination • Flea and tick preventative • Microchip Our adoption donation requirements are as follows: • Puppies 6 months of age or younger require a donation of $350. • Dogs over 6 months and under 8 years old require a donation of $300. • Dogs 8 years and older require a donation of $250.
