Heartland German Shepherd Rescue

We are a small, local, breed-specific non-profit rescue. We rescue abused/abandoned/neglected German Shepherd dogs, rehabilitate them and place them in permanent homes. We do not have a facility: dogs are housed in approved foster homes until they find their permanent home.

Meet Adaline (aka Addy) *PENDING*

Adaline is a sweet, sassy, and adorable GSD puppy who came in rescue with her sibling Andy, after their mom and two other siblings were run over. Addy is the poster child for a German Shepherd puppy! She wins over everyone she meets and her foster family is absolutely in love with her!!! She’s smart, loyal, motivated, and LOVES to play. Some of Addy’s favorite things are playing with her toys, playing chase with her doggy foster siblings, and getting big kisses and snuggles from any human she meets. She’s potty trained, kennel trained, doesn’t chew on things she shouldn’t, and is good at playing with her toys independently. She’s a rockstar! She’ll do anything for a treat, too, and so far, has mastered sit, shake, lay down, roll over, spin, and even play dead! Addy is a sassy and in-charge little girl who knows how to stick up for herself with her full-grown foster siblings, but who is also very respectful when playing with her doggy pals. Addy is working on not barking at dogs she doesn’t know, but with some training and confidence building, that should improve. She does enjoy making new friends, she is just a little loud about it, but does very well with slow introductions! Addy is a precious girl that would be the delight of any experienced German Shepherd lover. Like any of our dogs, this sweet, beautiful puppy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that this breed needs. Because of that, Addy's ideal owner will have prior GSD or other herding breed experience, and a friendly dog buddy for Addy, and not be gone too many hours every day. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners. Addy's adoption fee is $400, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.
