Sweet Mara came to us when she was at her last hour in a small rural kill shelter that kills for space, after being found as a stray. Mara is amazing. One look into her big brown eyes and everyone falls in love! Mara is energetic yet gentle, funny, sweet, cuddly, super playful, and just the sweetest girl! Mara knows some basic commands, and is eager to please and learn. She would do well as an only dog, or with another playful dog who is not possessive of his things (Mara is very playful, she just needs to be watched a little around high-value toys & chews, as she doesn't always want to share). Mara loves to be groomed and brushed. and even likes having her nails done! A Spa Day makes her happy! Mara is still young and is very puppyish. She will entertain herself in her crate, but mostly wants to be out and about, following people and amusing them. She would be a wonderful addition to a home that wants a fun, active, and very affectionate companion. Mara's adoption fee is $325, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.
