Meet Benjamin! This whopping goofball of a puppy came to us from a local animal shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. #fosteringsaveslives Benjamin, or Benny, is a reallllly great dog with so much to offer! He is a Great Pyrenees and pittie mix who is 100% perfection and spends all day playing with his toys and checking in with his humans like a good boy. Benny enjoys a few play sessions with dog friends during the day but is really great at amusing himself. He will gladly play a game of solo-fetch – running around like a buffoon throwing toys into the air to chase after them. He loves to be close to his peeps and will happily watch you do chores or just follow you from room to room with a benebone or antler to make sure you’re on the up-and-up. And zoomies around the yard? Yes, please! Benny is housebroken and crate trained. He is good on leash and really enjoys his walks. As a puppy, Benny is still learning, but he is smart as can be and seems to pick up skills quickly. He loves benebones, antlers, and cow hooves to chew and likes his stuffed animals to carry around. He loves the Kong Wobbler and other toy puzzles…he is so smart and has figured them all out quickly. And he is magical at night – snoozing straight through until morning without making a peep. Benny previously lived in an apartment and spent much of his time in a crate. He was surrendered by his prior owner in November and spent 3 months in a kennel before entering our rescue. That’s no place for a puppy to thrive. But after not being introduced to much that life has to offer up until now, he is making up for lost time with gusto. Though goofy, Benny is a little fearful when experiencing new situations like loud trucks, bikes, getting into or out of a car, etc. But he warms up very quickly and is always friendly. For example, he is learning that the couch is a comfy place. He would avoid the furniture when he first got into his foster home and chose to sleep on the floor. But his 4-legged foster siblings have shown him the way and he has mastered the couch! He loves to be pet and drapes his long body over your legs to be close while dorking out watching reality television. And even though getting into and out of the car seemed scary at first, he is getting the hang of it and loves, loves, loves to ride around. He sits nicely in the backseat and looks out the window, enjoying the scenery. Benny is a gawky and oaf-ish puppy but is an old soul at heart and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Even though he has a lot of puppy energy, he focuses it appropriately on bins of toys and playtime. He is goofy and happy allllll of the time. Benny truly loves life! We can’t wait for him to start his forever with some lucky family. He is playful but super awkward as a big puppy, not understanding his own size. Due to his size and lack of history, older kids would be best for this delightfully zany puppy. Benjamin’s top 3 priorities: A family that has lots of toys around to keep him occupied…he really does not require much to be happy, but toy options in every room would be HEAVEN for this clown. A loving family who isn’t gone for long hours every day so that he can roam around the house and amuse himself in the presence of great company. A bigger dog friend who likes to play. He wouldn’t necessarily need to live with one but would really enjoy regular playdates with friends – he LOVES to play!
