Meet Sophie in NH
Sophie is an absolute delight. She makes fast friends with dogs and loves to play. Sophie has been incredibly sweet with kids over 6 but she can be very excitable in the morning and knock over a small child. She has never shown any physical aggression, but she will grab you by the sleeve or pant leg and bring you to the spot where she would like you to rub her belly (she LOVES belly rubs). She is 100% house trained and looks full-grown, but is still a pup, so be vigilant about errant shoes, socks, remote controls, etc. She has also done a little gardening in the backyard as pyrs love to do, but seems to be understanding better that this isn’t cool after some gentle rebukes. She definitely gets the zoomies, so a fenced yard would be wonderful for her. She loves walks and though not perfect on the leash, she is getting better every day (wants to smell it all!). If you want a dog that will be thrilled to see you each morning and afternoon, loves being outside, barely barks, and is happy to chill at your feet while you chill on the couch, cook dinner or just about anything else, Sophie is your girl. Please visit our website for more pictures of this dog and info on our adoption process and application which is located on the left column under "forms & applications" : https://barkdogfarm.rescuegroups.org Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries. Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement and the animal has received its NH health certificate an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $450. for adults over 12 months, $550 for puppies 12 months and younger. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized, up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. Please know we practice Covid-19 guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing. Only approved applicants are allowed to meet our dogs outdoors. Please email [email protected] with any questions.
Adoption Process
we prefer to match our pet to the best home rather than first come, first serve.
review applications, interview applicant, call landlord if applicable. cal vet to determine previous pets care. call two personal references. conduct a virtual or in person home visit. set up meet and greet with entire family. If all goes well an adoption contract is signed. adoption fees are 100. cats, 175 kittens, 450 adult dogs, 500 puppies. our cats are adopted as indoor cat only. Since we will primarily have great pyrenees and pyr mixes we strongly suggest fenced yards, no apartments and experience with strong dominant breeds.
