Burlington County Animal Alliance

Burlington County Animal Alliance is a private, independent, 501(3)(c) nonprofit animal advocacy group, that was founded in 1999 by Lorraine Schrieber and Barb Giano who have a love for animals. To date, we have around 60 members of BCAA. We focus primarily on rescue and adoption of shelter dogs and cats in high kill shelters and surrounding areas in New Jersey. Our main focus is to make the public aware of the numbers of homeless dogs and cats there are in shelters and to promote adoption of these animals. We advocate spaying and neutering of all companion animals to counteract the overpopulation of dogs and cats and to end the tragedy of euthanizing healthy, unwanted companion pets.

Meet Camden

Hi!  My name is Camden and me and lots of my friends are all looking for forever homes.  We are part of a rescue operation that resulted after we were originally taken in by a good samaritan when our owner threatened to dump us at a high kill shelter in rural Georgia.  The good samaritan originally planned on getting us cleaned up & finding homes for us but she quickly found herself overwhelmed, and then Hurricane Heleme came through which only made the situation worse.  She reached out to a small local rescue for help, who then reached out to the rescue community, and that's when BCAA stepped up and said they would help us ... yeah!  We all appear to have poodle mixed with some other small breeds such as malatese, bichon, yorkie and chihuahua.  Some folks might say we are "hypoallergenic dogs" but due to our unknown mixes, that would need to be tested with each one of us; however, whatever we are mixed with, our foster mom says we are super cute.  While we are pretty shy when first meeting, we have all started to come out of our shells and we all love getting attention.  When we first came into foster, we had a lot of fleas which combined with our living conditions resulted in various stages of hair loss which BCAA is taking care of.  All of us that are over 6mos of age are living with our foster mom, while all of the puppies are with a wonderful puppy foster family. We all get along pretty good and while we have shown some curiosity with the cats we've seen, we haven't bothered them.  I share a crate with one of my friends and we are doing really good without any accidents or tearing up of any bedding.  We sometimes bark in our crates if we hear our foster mom 'cause we would prefer to be out running around and getting attention but we settle quickly and don't make too much noise.  My friend and I eat side-by-side without any problems and we do love our food.  None of us have ever had a leash on before and we're scared about them so we will need secure fenced yards in order for us to take care of our business.  I am about 1 year old and weigh about 13.5lbs.  It will take a while for all of us to get posted so if you might be interested in me or one of my friends, when filling out your application just make sure you put one of the "C" dogs or puppies under "dog interested in" (applications can be found at http://www.bcaaofnj.org and you don't need to fill out multiple applications).
