Meet Rizzo TX
Rizzo came into a Texas animal shelter in a very neglected state. She was picked up as a stray in early December during a rain storm. Her kennel tech said she was soaked to the skin, freezing cold and emaciated. But Rizzo left the shelter this week in a rain storm, but protected as she headed off to become part of the NorthStar family. There is no doubt that Rizzo was loved at some point in her life. This tiny gal just loves to be held. She is generous with her kisses and snuggles. She has no problem being handled by people she doesn’t know. And Rizzo is dog friendly - big and small. She is crate trained - and we suspect she is house trained too. Foster mom says that Rizzo is one of the easiest fosters she's ever had as a houseguest! Rizzo has adjusted quickly to life in her foster home. She slept on the floor in mom's bedroom last night - along with foster sibling Beetlejuice. (She would have preferred to sleep on the bed but we won’t go there.) She was perfect - quiet all night. Mom got up once to let another dog out - Rizzo ran out as well and pottied. Then quickly back inside and on her bed. Rizzo weighed less than 5 pounds when she was rescued but the vet said she should weigh 7-8 pounds. She has a cataract in the right eye but she can still see shadows - a cataract is beginning to form in her left eye but currently her sight is good. She has missing teeth but will need a full dental done as well as needing to be spayed. Her foster mom is committed to getting her as healthy as possible - once she does that, she will bring Rizzo to NJ so that she may find a loving, caring forever home. We believe that Rizzo is about 12 years old. If you are interested in adopting tiny Rizzo, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and ask for her by name - RIZZO TX. The adoption fee for this sweet gal is $250.
Adoption Process
Potential adopters will submit an adoption application. The adopters information will be screened including veterinary and personal references. After the first round of screening they will get the chance to meet the pet. If it is a good match, as deemed by NSPR volunteers, the adopter will complete an adoption contract and pay the fee of 375.00. All animals will be spayed/neutered and fully vetted prior to adoption. The only exception would be small puppies in which case the adopter will submit an additional deposit refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. In the event an animal is no longer wanted, the adoption contract will stipulate that the animal always gets returned to us, and is never sold, given away, or surrendered to another rescue or shelter.
