Meet Rocky
Meet Rocky! Rocky is a 1–2-year-old, 55 lb hound mix with the perfect blend of goofball energy and tender affection. With his sweet, easygoing nature and playful personality, Rocky is ready to bring joy and love into a forever home. This lovable pup gets along beautifully with other dogs. He especially enjoys romping around the yard in playful chases, then flopping onto his back for a quick rest before springing up again like it’s a game of tag. He’s a joy to watch—full of happiness and goofy charm. While he hasn’t been around children or cats, his gentle and respectful demeanor suggests he’d do well with the right introductions.Rocky is medium-energy: excited and playful during greetings or outdoor time, but calm and cuddly indoors. He loves plush and chew toys, and he’s happiest when he’s near his people. Though crate training wasn’t his thing, he’s done well sleeping on blankets and feels safe when he’s close. He’s made noticeable progress in settling down and building confidence in a stable home environment. House training is going great—he uses the backyard regularly and will stand at the door if he needs an extra potty break. Rocky is also picking up basic commands and manners quickly. He’s mastered “sit” and “paw” and is working on “stay” and “drop it” (particularly useful, since he’s been known to sneak off with the occasional shoe or remote!). He’s respectful of guests, doesn’t beg at the table, and is especially gentle with elderly visitors. Rocky walks well on a leash, though continued training would benefit him. He tolerates car rides—he may whine at first, but then settles in quietly. Overall, he’s a very affectionate, gentle pup who thrives on human connection and praise. His ideal home would be one that offers love, attention, and regular activity to keep him engaged. Whether in a home with other dogs or as a solo companion, Rocky is the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people and share in everyday life. His foster’s favorite thing? That adorable prance when he carries a toy around the yard, proudly showing it off like a prized treasure. Rocky is a gentle soul, eager to please, playful yet calm, and ready to become someone’s perfect companion. Apply at bcaaofnj.org
