Location: VA This sweety is destined to be someone’s best friend for sure. “Count” just turned one and is still very much a puppy. He is a big snuggler, and he loves to play. He is submissive and eager to please. Shy at first, he blooms with attention as he gets to know people. He gets along great with the other dog in his foster home and was nonchalant about meeting their donkeys and goats. He is housetrained, crate trained, and knows some commands, such as sit, wait, leave it (or “Mama’s”), and fetch. He is habituated to wearing an easy walk no-pull harness with leash attachment at the chest. He also has started to ring the bell on the kitchen gate to indicate that he needs to go out. Such a smart cookie. Because Count is still a puppy, his attention span is short, but he learns quickly and is food-driven, which makes training easy. Unlike some Australian Cattle Dogs, he doesn’t nip to get attention, he only nudges with his muzzle and sometimes paws – not good habits, but easier to deal with than nipping. Count’s forever family should have plenty of time for training so Count continues on his current trajectory towards being a well-mannered pup, loved by all. He needs socialization and leash training, so his new family should be willing to do puppy classes with him. A fenced yard is also a must since fetch and running around at full speed is one of his favorite pastimes and plenty of room to play helps Count get out his extra puppy energy.
